Today I had a block class from 9:55-12:35. It's called Legal Aspects of Communication, and it's required for Journalism majors. Although I'm a Public Communication major, I decided to take the class anyway because of my interest in law (and maybe law school someday).
The professor is great. His name is John Watson. He's extremely qualified to teach this class...to say the least. He's got a PhD and JD, and has worked as both an attorney and journalist (writer and editor) in the past. Prof. Watson's an old-school style professor. He's a tough grader and all of our material is from his lectures (and some from the reading). He doesn't use PowerPoint or anything, but class is always interesting because he loves group discussion and has many stories to tell.
I think I'm going to talk to him about a summer internship. With all of his DC connections, I'm hoping he'll be able to recommend me a good law-esque internship and maybe even have a contact to get me in the door. We'll see. I really want to stay in DC this summer, but I need a paid internship. I'm not worried though. Hopefully everything with work out.
